Here I was a doc, an athlete yet I wasn’t following my own advice, so I went on the mission to find the answers, get to the root of my problem so I could regain my own health.  What I found was the effect of too many years of my struggle with food addiction. I had destroyed my gut with toxic foods, sugar and processed chemicals. Health truly begins in the gut and it is the fast path to sickness and disease.

I realized I had to take back my health and today I realize, I am not alone. Sometimes it’s obvious but often many of us are suffering with slow break down of our systems that are not quickly recognized or addressed by the allopathic medical system. Being frustrated by impersonal doctor-patient relationships, skyrocketing insurance costs, and alarming drug side-effects, I wanted a better solution for myself and my patients. A solution that addresses the cause and can provide corrective care for enhanced health and healing. This is Functional Medicine.
